Safety information
This is an FDA-approved prescription medicine. A licensed provider decides whether treatment is appropriate. Prescription required. Read the full Prescribing Information and Medication Guide from the manufacturer before you start.
Boxed warning: risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Full safety information
Important: WARNING: risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. In studies with rodents, Zepbound® and medicines like it caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is not known if they cause these tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in people. Do not use if you or any family member has ever had MTC, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your provider right away about a lump or swelling in your neck, trouble swallowing, hoarseness or shortness of breath.
The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, belly pain and lower appetite. They are most likely when you start or step up a dose and often ease with time. Serious but less common risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or a sulfonylurea), kidney problems from dehydration, serious allergic reactions, and changes in mood. Get emergency care for severe belly pain that will not go away, signs of an allergic reaction, or thoughts of self-harm.
Tirzepatide may make birth control pills less effective, especially for 4 weeks after starting and after each dose increase. Ask your provider about a non-oral method or a backup method. Other warnings include diabetic eye complications in people with type 2 diabetes and a rare risk of food or liquid getting into the lungs during anesthesia or sedation.
Not for use during pregnancy. Stop at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy and tell your provider if you are breastfeeding. Tell the care team if you have surgery planned, since these medicines can affect anesthesia and how your stomach empties.
Zepbound® is FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight plus at least one weight-related condition, used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity. It is also approved to treat moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. A licensed provider reviews your history and decides whether it is appropriate for you.
Can Zepbound help with sleep apnea?
Zepbound® is the first medicine FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. It is used alongside diet and activity, and it does not automatically replace a CPAP or other treatment your sleep doctor recommends. If you snore loudly, wake up gasping or have a sleep apnea diagnosis, include that in your intake.
How do I get a Zepbound prescription online?
Complete the KIN Meds online intake with your health history, current medicines and goals. A licensed provider reviews it in 24 hours or less and decides whether Zepbound® is appropriate. If it is, your prescription is sent to a licensed U.S. pharmacy. There is no appointment to schedule, and the care team is available by message once you start.
What are the most common Zepbound side effects?
The most common side effects are nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, belly pain, indigestion, injection site reactions, tiredness, burping, hair loss and heartburn. They are most common while the dose is increasing. Serious but less common risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and kidney problems. Get urgent care for severe belly pain that will not go away or signs of an allergic reaction.
Does Zepbound affect birth control pills?
It can. Zepbound® may make birth control pills less effective, especially for 4 weeks after you start and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Your provider may suggest switching to a non-oral method or adding a barrier method during those windows. Zepbound® should not be used during pregnancy, so tell the care team if you are planning one.
What happens if the provider says treatment is not right for me?
If a licensed provider reviews your intake and decides treatment is not appropriate, you are not charged for treatment. The provider may explain why, suggest a different option in KIN Meds care, or recommend you see a local doctor first. That decision is based on your health history, current medicines and safety, not on which product you picked in the quiz.
A few quick questions, then a licensed provider reviews your intake in 24 hours or less. If treatment is not appropriate, you are not charged for treatment.
