What is TriMix?
TriMix is an injectable ED medicine that combines alprostadil, papaverine and phentolamine. It is injected with a very fine needle into the side of the penis. Unlike pills, it acts directly on the blood vessels of erectile tissue, so it can help some men who did not respond well to oral ED medicines.
TriMix is compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy and is not FDA-approved. Dosing is very individual, so your provider sets a careful starting dose and gives detailed instructions. A prescription is required, and a licensed provider decides whether it is appropriate.

Full safety information
Important: Priapism warning: an erection that lasts more than 4 hours is a medical emergency. Go to the nearest emergency room right away. Untreated priapism can permanently damage the penis.
Repeated use can cause scarring, small lumps or curvature in the penis. Use it no more often than prescribed, and do not combine it with other ED medicines on the same day unless your provider says so.
TriMix is compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy and is not FDA-approved. Keep it refrigerated and out of reach of children.
TriMix combines three medicines, alprostadil, papaverine and phentolamine, that relax and widen blood vessels in the penis. It is injected directly into the side of the penis with a very fine needle, so it acts right where it is needed rather than through the bloodstream like a pill. That is why it can help some men who did not respond to oral ED medicines.
Does a TriMix injection hurt?
The needle is very small, similar to an insulin needle, and many men describe the injection as a brief pinch. Some feel mild aching or burning afterward, which is often linked to the alprostadil. Correct technique makes a big difference, so your provider gives step-by-step instructions. Tell the care team if pain is more than mild or does not ease.
Is TriMix FDA-approved?
No. TriMix is compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy and is not FDA-approved. It has not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality as a combination. A licensed provider decides whether it is appropriate for you, sets an individual starting dose, and adjusts it carefully based on how you respond.
What should I do if an erection lasts too long?
An erection lasting more than 4 hours is a medical emergency called priapism. Go to the nearest emergency room right away and tell them you used TriMix. Untreated priapism can permanently damage the penis. Your provider gives you a plan before your first dose. Report any erection that lasts longer than expected to the care team, even if it goes away.
How often can I use TriMix?
Only as often as your provider prescribes. Many plans limit use to once in 24 hours and a few times a week, since frequent injections raise the risk of scarring and curvature. Rotate injection sides as instructed. Do not raise your own dose. If the dose does not work well, message the care team so your provider can adjust it safely.
Does TriMix need to be refrigerated?
Yes. TriMix should be kept in the refrigerator to stay stable, and it ships cold-packed when needed. Do not freeze it, and do not use it if it looks cloudy or discolored or is past its beyond-use date on the label. Follow the storage directions from your pharmacy and ask the care team if you are unsure.
A few quick questions, then a licensed provider reviews your intake in 24 hours or less. If treatment is not appropriate, you are not charged for treatment.
